The pool is a study project, with the aim to create new audience, develop the performing practice and the anthropological study about different forms of performing arts.

In 2013 the pool had a great success, we have seen in total 160 participants, professionals and amateurs from January till June. The pool took place once a month in Overtoom 301 and Muiderpoort theater. The idea was to work in 2 different locations, one in East-Amsterdam and one in West-Amsterdam, that created a friendly and fluent communication and flow between locals and artists living in the neighbourhood.

As part of the Focus Traversar Confini that the Teatro Cantiere Florida, Versiliadanza and Murmuris Teatro dedicate to different skills, the Dutch Knopen association brings to Italy for the first time the project directed by Silvia Bennett Choreographer, Emese Csornai Visual artist,
Gabor Csongradi Musician,
Margherita Landi Anthropologist-dancer.

Amsterdam is the European heart of music and dance improvisation. Developed in the 1970s, this practice still has a strong impact on contemporary European art today.

The Pool teachers currently work in the Dutch improvisation scene collaborating with several international artists such as Katie Duck, Julyen Hamilton, Micheal Schumacher, Alfredo Genovesi, Ellen Knobs, Kenzo Kusuda, etc … and have developed over the years a personal approach to improvisation through intense multidisciplinary research.

The project was developed in Amsterdam under the direction of the choreographer Silvia Bennett, in collaboration with the anthropologist / dancer Margherita Landi, the Light designer / visual artist Emese Csornai and the musician Gabor Csongradi. The project took place over 6 months on a monthly basis and saw more than 160 people actively involved, professionals and amateurs.

The project is structured to create new audiences and to give people from different backgrounds the opportunity to find a key to access performance art.

The Pool è un progetto di studio, con l’obiettivo di creare un nuovo pubblico, sviluppare la pratica performativa e lo studio antropologico sulle diverse forme di arti performative.

Nel 2013 The Pool ha avuto un grande successo, abbiamo visto in totale 160 partecipanti, professionisti e dilettanti da Gennaio a Giugno.

The Pool si svolgeva una volta al mese presso Overtoom 301 e nel teatro Muiderpoort. L’idea era quella di lavorare in 2 luoghi diversi, uno a East-Amsterdam e uno a West-Amsterdam, che creassero una comunicazione e un flusso amichevole e fluente tra la gente del posto e gli artisti che vivono nel quartiere.

Nel 2014 The Pool è approdato in Italia Nell’ambito del Focus Traversar Confini che il Teatro Cantiere Florida, Versiliadanza e Murmuris Teatro dedicano alle differenti abilità, l’associazione Olandese Knopen, porta in Italia per la prima volta il progetto diretto da Silvia Bennett Coreografa, Emese Csornai Visual artist,
Gabor Csongradi Musicista,
Margherita Landi Antropologa-danzatrice.

Amsterdam è il cuore europeo dell’improvvisazione musica e danza. Sviluppatasi negli anni 70′ ancora oggi questa pratica ha un forte impatto sull’arte contemporanea europea.

Gli insegnanti di The Pool lavorano attualmente nella scena dell’improvvisazione olandese collaborando con diversi artisti internazionali quali Katie Duck, Julyen Hamilton, Micheal Schumacher, Alfredo Genovesi, Ellen Knobs, Kenzo Kusuda, ecc.. e hanno sviluppato in questi anni un personale approccio all’improvvisazione attraverso un’intensa ricerca multidisciplinare.

Il progetto si è sviluppato ad Amsterdam sotto la direzione della coreografa Silvia Bennett, in collaborazione con l’antropologa/danzatrice Margherita Landi, la Light designer/visual artist Emese Csornai e il musicista Gabor Csongradi. Il progetto si è svolto in 6 mesi con cadenza mensile ed ha visto coinvolte attivamente più di 160 persone, professionisti ed amatori.

Il progetto è strutturato per creare nuovo pubblico e per dare la possibilità a persone di realtà diverse di trovare una chiave d’accesso all’arte performativa.
